Gretta Kontas has been honored with an Outstanding Friend Award from Friends of Kansas Libraries (FoKL).

Winners are selected for their volunteer efforts, benefit to the library and community, and commitment to library services. Gretta was nominated by Salina Public Library in honor of her fundraising work, innovations with book sales and programming, and her commitment to advocacy on behalf of the library.

Her nomination form said Gretta, “. . . has proven herself to be a true cheerleader of libraries, and we are extremely fortunate to have her support at Salina Public Library.”

FoKL is a state-wide organization that provides encouragement and support to new and existing local Friends groups, facilitates the exchange of useful information among organizations of Friends, and advocates for excellent library services.

Gretta will receive a $50 cash award given in her name to Friends of the Salina Public Library. She will also be honored by FoKL at the Kansas Library Association Conference in October.
