On Friday, July 31, the library staff in Information Services hosted their annual end-of-summer open house for participants in the Adult Summer Reading Program. We had over 250 participants in the program all summer long, and folks had the chance to win a wide variety of prizes each week for nine weeks. Smoky Hill River Festival buttons, movie theater tickets, Kenwood Cove passes and gift certificates to local restaurants were among the many perks available to participants who submitted the books they read into our program each week.

At the end of the summer we had more than 80 party-goers come to the library after hours to enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by Phyllis Loader of Home Catering, listen to live music by Craig Plotner, and share in conversation with old and new faces.

At the open house, all participants who dropped in were eligible to be entered in our drawings for our (amazing) party prizes. This year we wrangled up THIRTY prizes, because we love our readers! Our grand prizes were two Kindle Paperwhites with a $30 Amazon gift card. Dorothy B. and Judith B. were the lucky winners of the Kindles, and 28 other folks got to claim some neat swag themselves!

The treats were delicious …

Conversation was spirited …

And our guests were fantastic!

Don’t miss the fun next summer!  Watch for the chance to register for the Summer Reading Program at the beginning of summer 2016!
