Starting Monday, September 14, we’ll begin replacing the carpeting throughout the entire main floor of the library.

The project will take place in phases, with different sections of the main floor being closed or affected as the work moves through the building. We’ll do our best to keep as much of the library accessible as possible and minimize disruptions to library services.

We’ll keep this page updated with the latest information throughout the project.

What to Expect

Section 1: Technology & Media

We’ll begin in the Technology Center and Media area. These areas will be closed to the public while the carpeting is replaced. Other areas of the library will remain open and available.

Section 2: Entrances & Circulation

The library will close to the public while work is completed around library entrances. We’ll share specific closure dates as they become available.

Section 3: Information Services, Fiction & Nonfiction

Work will continue through the main floor, including the areas around Information Services, Fiction and Nonfiction.
As furniture and shelving are moved to make room for the carpet replacement, some seating and portions of the collection will be temporarily unavailable. The library may need to close if a large portion of the adult collection is inaccessible.

Section 4: Staff Offices & Meeting Rooms

We’ll provide more information about affected rooms and room availability as the project progresses. Several rooms will be unavailable for reservation throughout the duration of the carpet replacement.
