The Salina Public Library will be Closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 for Christmas.

Makers Space

Let’s make something together!

The library is excited to provide an opportunity for people to join a community of makers. Whether that be a model brought to life on our 3D Printer, a fun sticker for a loved one designed and cut by our Cricut, there is a little bit of something for everyone to try at the Library.

Ask questions, share stories, and enjoy this opportunity to try something new. If you already have a project in mind and simply need the tools to make it happen, please contact the Tech Center and we can schedule a time on our equipment. Bring a project or start something new with the library’s makers group.

Have further questions or ready to start your project? Reach out to the technology center at programs.kristi@salinapublic.org or 785-833- 9208.

Prusa MK3S

Don’t know where to start? Begin designing your creation using Tinkercad – a site that makes it very difficult to make an unprintable model. Once your creation is ready to be brought to life bring it in so the project can be sliced. Pre-sliced .gcode files will not be accepted as it may break our printer! Basic colors are provided in PLA plastic. Other types of materials will not be allowed (ABS or PETG) unless approved.

Prints will not run overnight. We recommend that while printing to stick close by and check in on your creation every 10 minutes or so. If print fails, 2 retries will be allowed before alteration in the design is needed. To check print time on creation you can download our slicing program, prusaslicer. Once downloaded select printer model (Prusa MK3S), material (PLA), and detail settings (.20mm).

Cost is $0.25 per half hour of print time. Time will be rounded to the nearest half hour with a minimum cost of $0.25.
