Makerspace


Design, create, and bring your ideas to life. Print 3D models, cut custom decals, and explore your creativity in the Library’s Makerspace.

  • Must have a library card in good standing.
  • Equipment use requires prior training by Technology staff.
  • Training sessions must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours before the intended equipment use.

Thermal Laminator

Laminator

First-Come First-Served.
Available Monday through Saturday from opening until 15 minutes before closing.

  • $0.50 per laminating sheet.
  • Laminates paper from newspaper-thin up to lightweight cardstock.
  • Items must fit within an 8.5″ × 11″ laminating sheet, leaving a small border around all edges for proper sealing.

  • The first three sheets of vinyl are provided at no charge; color availability cannot be guaranteed.
  • Additional vinyl is $0.50 per sheet.
  • Personal vinyl and other materials may be used with prior Technology staff approval.

3D Printer

Available Tuesday through Friday.
Morning appointments:  10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Afternoon appointments: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Appointments may begin at any time within the selected time block but must be completed before the end of that appointment window.
Contact Technology staff to schedule an appointment.

  • $0.25 per half hour of print time. Print time is rounded to the nearest half hour, with a minimum charge of $0.25.
  • Payment is due when the print is completed or after each failed print attempt.
  • PLA filament is provided. Filament color is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
  • Personal PLA filament may be used with prior approval from Technology staff.
  • STL (.stl) files must be provided 24 hours before your appointment by emailing help.tech@salinapublic.org.
  • Help creating or modifying a 3D model is available through a Personalized Technology Session, which must be scheduled in advance.
  • Patrons must be present at the start of their print to monitor the first layer for potential print failures.
  • Technology staff are not responsible for monitoring or supervising the print.
  • Prints expected to exceed the allotted 4-hour appointment must reserve the next appointment time in advance.
  • Prints must be picked up by the end of the day.
  • Patron approval is required to retry any failed prints. Retries must occur within the appointment time; otherwise, a new appointment will need to be scheduled.
