Oct. 4, 2018 – Family History Detectives, Salina Public Library’s monthly educational genealogy gathering, will focus on organizing research during the October meeting. The group will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the library’s Prescott Room.
Information Services Librarian Barbara Mulvihill will present on using Evernote to organize genealogy research. Evernote is a cloud-based app designed for note taking, organizing, tasks lists and archiving.
Mulvihill has more than 30 years of experience with genealogy research and has lead personal history recording efforts at the library, including StoryCatchers and the oral history recording project for Kansas Stories of the Vietnam War. She is the recipient of a 2018 Lana Jordan Developing Artist Grant from Salina Arts and Humanities. She started using Evernote to organize information for a memoir she is writing on her family in Texas during and after the Civil War.
Family History Detectives, formally known as the Genealogy Club, meets every third Thursday, August through November and January through May. Genealogist of all experience levels are welcome. Upcoming topics include using U.S. Army unit records. Meetings are free and do not require registration.

Amy is a voracious reader, picking up anything from fantasy, graphic novels and pop fiction to classics and literary fiction.
