Library Card FAQs
Acceptable forms of ID include Government-issued photo ID with current address, Driver’s license with current address, Temporary secure paper license with current address, State ID card or temporary secure State ID card with current address, Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) Card with recent picture, Pilot’s License with recent picture, Passport with recent picture, Permanent Resident or Immigration Card with recent picture, Military ID with recent picture, Current School-issued ID, Prison release forms (should have a KDOC photo of individual and state of KS seal), Other Photo ID that matches the individual listed on documents above with recent picture.
Expired documents are not accepted.
If any of the previous forms of ID do not have a current address one of the following forms of documentation can be shown to provide proof of address. Bills (Cable, Internet, Credit Card, Utility from current or last month), Change of address form from USPS, Current car registration, Driver’s permit, Current insurance card, Mortgage papers or rental lease, Current school registration, Voter’s identification, Property Tax bill, Written letter on organization letterhead by the administrator or director of a community agency testifying the individual is staying on their premises (ex. – DVACK, Salina Rescue Mission Ashby House, etc.)
Any resident of the State of Kansas may get a library card. Review SERVICES 002.1: TYPES OF CARDS for further information.

Holds may be placed at the library or online through our catalog. You can also view your spot in line in the catalog or by calling us at 785-825-4624.
For patrons looking to save titles for later, we recommend using the list feature in your online account.
Our collection of DVDs and video games is in high demand, so we limit them. To view the limits placed on our different materials, review SERVICES 003.1: LOAN PERIODS.
Patrons with fines of $5 or more may not check out materials until their balance falls below $5. Patrons cannot check out items until lost, stolen, or damaged materials have been paid for or replaced. Most library cards expire every 3 years at chich time all outstanding fines must be paid. Patrons may also be debarred for behavioral problems as defined in PATRON-003: RULES OF BEHAVIOR.
Books and other materials must be returned by their due date either to the library or to designated book drops located at Dillon’s (Cloud, Planet, or Crawford locations) and at the OCCK bus stop on North 9th Street and Hamilton Avenue. A drive-up drop box is also available on the northwest corner of the library building. Hotspots must be returned either inside the library or to the library’s drive-up drop box.
Parents/guardians are responsible for anyone under 18 and the materials they check out. If a full patron card was provided by a parent or legal guardian, the person under 18 is allowed to check out any merial in the library.
If your card is lost or stolen, let the library know immediately so that materials will not continue to be checked out to your account. As per policy SERVICES 002.3: RESPONSIBILITIES, “Patrons are responsible for all materials borrowed on their card, including payment of fines or charges incurred.” This still applies to lost or stolen cards if not reported.

Yes. The library offers high-speed wireless internet access for patrons who want to use their own laptops or other portable devices. For more information, review SERVICES 006: TECHNOLOGY.
