Selection
Artists should keep in mind that the library is a public space serving both children and adults. All submitted works must be appropriate for a general audience. Applications to exhibit will be taken year-round. The library also reserves the right to invite artists for exhibits. Consideration for acceptance will include quality, variety, and the ability of the exhibit to fit into available display areas.
Content
Artists should be aware that the library is a public place serving children and adults, thus select pieces accordingly. Gallery 708 is intended to exhibit work by adults and teens 14 and older. Please inquire with the Head of Youth Services about displaying children’s artwork.
Sales
Artwork may be available for purchase. Information Services staff will collect and hold cash or checks made payable directly to the artist. All sold pieces must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. The artist retains 100% of the sale proceeds.
Publicity
The library will create labels, press releases, and include announcements in the monthly calendar and library social media.
Documentation
Artists should provide a complete inventory list one to two months before the exhibition. The list must include the title, medium, dimensions, and price of each piece. Optional descriptions or explanations of the work may also be included. All artwork must be clearly labeled on the back for easy identification.
Liability
The library’s insurance will cover theft or damage.
