The Salina Public Library will be Closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 for Christmas.

Re-Imagining Our Library

To meet Salina’s needs into the future the library is re-imagining its Youth Services space to create a destination for youth and families to read, play, create, learn and grow.

The Re-Imagining Our Library initiative is a capital project to enhance SPL’s youth services department through a comprehensive remodel. The project will establish a dedicated room for educational and entertaining youth programs, introduce a new meeting room for community collaboration, and create designated spaces for each age level, including a new dedicated teen area. Additionally, the initiative will include cutting-edge technology, incorporate practical amenities such as a family restroom and private nursing room, optimize service desk placement for efficiency, and increase comfortable seating to elevate the library experience for all.

A Look Into the Future

Youth Programming Room

A child-centered space, offering expanded opportunities for staff-led activities.

Littles Space

Targeted for preschool children and their caregivers, this space will include hands-on play and seating for reading together.

School-Age Space

In addition to books for early readers to middle grades, this space will provide comfortable reading spots.

Teen Space

A defined, but still visible, teen space will create a place to hangout, create and study.

Floor Plan

Re-Imagining Our Library will transform the layout of the lower floor of the library.

We need you. Your support is essential in re-imagining our library.

“There are so many great opportunities for kids at the library. As a parent, I am grateful for so many engaging and educational (but still fun!) classes and programs that are available to such a wide range of ages.”
