Sept. 18, 2018 – Salina Public Library will help children get to know some of their favorite characters better with two special events.

Elephant and Piggie Meet and Greet will feature two characters from popular children’s author Mo Willems. The special storytime will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 in the library’s Prescott Room. In addition to meeting the characters, children will hear their book “The Thank You Book.”

The best friend duo is visiting the state for “A Pigeon Comes to Topeka! A Mo Willems Exhibit” on display at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center Sept. 24-Jan. 4. To learn more about the exhibit, visit kansasdiscovery.org/thepigeonexhibit.

The library will present a screening of “The Daniel Tiger Movie: Won’t You Be Our Neighbor?” at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 29 in the Prescott Room. The PBS Kids movie is inspired by the Neighborhood of Make-Believe from “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood” and explores social/emotional-based school-readiness. In “Won’t You Be Our Neighbor?” a new family moves to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. It’s up to Daniel and his community to welcome the family.
