Makerspace

Design, create, and bring your ideas to life. Print 3D models, cut custom decals, and explore your creativity in the Library’s Makerspace.

• Must have a library card in good standing.
• Patrons must be trained on the equipment through a Personalized Technology Session prior to appointment registration. Available appointment times can be found on our events calendar.
• Only one active makerspace equipment reservation is permitted at a time. New reservations may be made after the current appointment has been completed.
• Patrons who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time will need to reschedule their appointment.

Available Tuesday through Friday.
Morning appointments:  10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Afternoon appointments: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Appointments may begin at any time within the selected time block but must be completed before the end of that appointment window.
Contact Technology staff to schedule an appointment.

• $0.25 per half hour of print time. Print time is rounded to the nearest half hour, with a minimum charge of $0.25.
• Payment is due when the print is completed or after each failed print attempt.
• PLA filament is provided. Filament color is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
• Personal PLA filament may be used with prior approval from Technology staff.
• Prints using .stl files must be reviewed and approved by Technology staff before an appointment can be scheduled. Please email your .stl file to makerspace@salinapublic.org for review. Once your file has been evaluated, Technology staff will contact you within 2–3 business days to schedule your appointment.
• A max of 3 files can be provided at once. Those files will need to be completed prior to an additional appointment.
• Help creating or modifying a 3D model is available through a Personalized Technology Session.
• Patrons must be present at the start of their print to monitor the first layer for potential print failures.
• Technology staff are not responsible for monitoring or supervising the print.
• Morning appointments expecting to exceed the allotted 4-hour time period must reserve the afternoon appointment in advance.
• Prints will not run after closing.
• Prints must be picked up by the end of the day.
• Patron approval is required to retry any failed prints. Retries must occur within the appointment time; otherwise, a new appointment will need to be scheduled.
