Astrology, zodiacs, the sun, moon, and stars…that has never quite been my jam. As I have become a little more seasoned with age and life experiences, I have gotten to know myself better.  From that, I have found that for the most part, I am a true Pisces and I resonate with many of the characteristics that are associated with the Pisces sign. Since Pisces season is upon us, what better time than now to introduce or reintroduce you to these unique creatures?

A person born between February 19 and March 20 falls into the Pisces sign. The water sign is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite, yin and yang directions. This is thought to represent the struggle between rationale and fantasy.

According to astrology, the Planet Neptune controls Pisces, which is considered to be the planet that governs dreams, creativity, and imagination. Pisces energy is somewhat mysterious and referred to as magical like the ocean.  Empathy for others and the capacity to express emotions is one of their greatest strengths. They are generous, compassionate, and faithful. Pisces are overall friendly individuals and highly likable by most. A Pisces forgives easily and will try their best to figure out how to mend a situation or relationship that is strained.

That being said, Pisces tend to have small circles and are extremely selective about who they bring into their world. They do not bend to societal norms and are unbothered if someone dislikes them. It takes quite a bit to make them angry, as they tend to give several chances. If you and a Pisces end a relationship on bad terms, it may be difficult to get back in their good graces.

As part of being the last sign in the zodiac, Pisces are considered wise, having absorbed all the lessons and knowledge of the signs before them. While this makes them highly intuitive people, they are sometimes so in tune with their own and others’ feelings that it easily overwhelms them. It is a fine line and personal struggle that they must learn to balance.

Now that you know a little bit about Pisces, let’s dive a little deeper into their psyche. Below is a compilation of qualities that are commonly affiliated with Pisces.

  1. I somewhat disagree with this one, but Pisces are non-confrontational.  Pisces prefer harmony and ignorance over confrontation and are often people pleasers. Their hearts are in the right place, but they need to learn to face their conflicts and move through them, rather than swimming around them.  As my younger self, I struggled with this, but that is no longer the case. Each person and scenario is different and one must adapt their delivery style to the audience and specific incident. Sugarcoating a situation or behavior is also pointless, and focusing on the facts is best when seeking to resolve a matter.
  2. Pisces are artists in their own right because they are in tune with the people and things around them. Pisces are often gifted and flourish in art, music, and writing. Pisces are emotional and music is their favorite way to express those emotions. Pisces often sing, play an instrument, or make a playlist to let others know how they feel about them. Pisces are described as sensitive, creative, gracious, self-aware, romantic, intuitive, and open-minded. All of these personality traits are quite the recipe for renowned artists, especially musicians. Some well-known Pisces artists include: Curt Cobain, Rhianna, Kesha, Carrie Underwood, Johnny Cash, Olivia Rodrigo, Gloria Vanderbilt, Michelangelo, and Dr. Suess.
  3. Pisces are definitely lovers, not fighters, and tend to be popular due to their easygoing, fun, and submissive personalities. They are kind and gentle people who like other people. They treat the world as they would like to be treated, which makes them prime candidates to be your BFF. Pisces gravitate towards romance and experience love on a spiritual level. If you find yourself a partner who just happens to be a Pisces, hold on to them. They do not love easy, but when they do, they love hard, show support, and embody loyalty. 4. Pisces are open-minded and tend to see the beauty or the good in someone before the negative. They see inner beauty the way others see outside flaws. Pisces accept others for who they are without judgment. It is second nature for them and they will let you know how awesome you are, even if you cannot see it yourself. They are slow to criticize without first understanding and enjoy learning a new perspective. They love a good friendly debate and welcome challenges to the status quo. This is who you want to have an intellectual conversation with. A Pisces can talk about any topic with confidence.
  5. Lastly, Pisces are the kings and queens of holding grudges. Pisces are loving and loyal to a fault and will try their best to make friendships, family ties, intimate relationships, employment situations, just about every type of relationship work.  However, once they get to the point of no return, if you hurt them, you should make yourself scarce.  A Pisces will not forget the hurt you inflicted upon them and will most likely do one of two things when faced with having their heart broken or feelings hurt. Their walk-past-you-like-you-never-existed game is strong, so they may just completely cut you out of their life.  However, some have been known to become physically violent.  Most tend to follow the first path, but there are some that have turned destructive. Individuals such as John Wayne Gacy, Aileen Wuornos, Dennis Rader, Randy Kraft, Delphine Lalaurie, Ottis Toole, and Josef Mengele are Pisces as well as serial killers.
