Kansas artist Lydia Witt will display her printmaking in the exhibit “Figure and Sentiment” in Salina Public Library’s Gallery 708 April 11 through May 23. Witt describes her work as an expression of her love for the calmness, chaos and mystery of nature and the patterns that can be found within it. “Figure and Sentiment” marks the first exhibit displayed in Gallery 708 in 2022.

Lydia grew up in rural Kansas and was raised with a heavy emphasis in the arts. Lydia’s Parents were both active artists, her mother being a printmaking major and art teacher, and her father moonlighting as an abstract artist while running the family business. Lydia attended college to study graphic arts and design in 2013, and discovered her love for printmaking in the process. Through printmaking, she has uncovered a deeper appreciation for fine arts, as well as a greater respect for the lifelong dedication and growth that comes from being an artist.  Lydia is the owner and operator of Athas Design, and continues to learn and grow as a printmaker and artist alongside running her business.

Gallery 708 is located near the south entrance of Salina Public Library. The public is welcome to view the exhibit during library hours — 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
