SPL provides participating schools and school districts library cards for their students and educators.

Student Cards

School Library Cards give students access to library resources. They are provided to students in participating schools and school districts. Using their School Library Card, Students have access to the following resources:

  • Check out up to 10 physical items
  • Access to digital resources
  • Access to library computers
  • Print school materials for free up to $1

Educator Cards

This card allows educators to supplement their curriculum with an abundant, ever-changing supply of books and STEM-related kits. Teachers and educators can create temporary classroom collections to encourage reading as well as check out educator kits. SPL provides educator cards that allow holders to check out any library materials and the ability to reserve multiple copies currently in our collection.

  • Overdue fines are not charged.
  • Replacement fees for lost or damaged items are charged
  • Educators can reserve multiple copies of items in our collection by contacting library staff.

Apply for an Educator Card

Fill out the online card sign-up form then email circ@salinapublic.org with your work email to confirm your educator status.

Who is eligible for an Educator Card?

Educators who reside in the city of Salina or Saline County are eligible.

  • Teachers
  • Administrators
  • Librarians / Library Aides
  • Licensed Child Care Providers
  • After School Program Providers
  • Homeschooling Parents/Guardians

How do I get an Educator Card?

Apply for an Educator Card Online or in person at the library. Once your application is submitted, you can pick up your card at the library with the following identification:

  • Photo ID – Current Photo ID with address (Driver’s License, State issued ID)

AND

  • School ID (bring 1 of the following):
    • Current school-issued Photo ID
    • A link that shows the school website, with educators’ information
    • Letter on school letterhead signed by the principal of the school with the current date
    • Licensed Child Care Certificate
    • Valid Proof of Homeschool Membership

Does the card expire?

Yes, your educator card must be renewed every three years. To renew, bring your School ID to the library. All outstanding fines and fees must be paid on the educator’s and personal library card before it will be renewed.

Will I receive library notices?

Yes, you will receive notices via email or text message. The messaging system is the same as on a personal library card.

Logging In to Your School Account

Students can use their library card number to access online resources, like Hoopla and the Libby App. When in the Library, students can scan their digital card in the app to check out materials or visit the help desk.

When logging in through the Library website, follow these steps:

  1. Click the “LOGIN” button in the top right-hand corner of the screen (or in the sandwich menu on mobile).
  2. On the sign-in page, you will enter your credentials that were given to you by your school.
  3. To find your card number, click on “Your Library Card” in the “My Account” drop-down on the left-hand side of the webpage.

In order to log-in using the Salina Pubic Library Catalog app, follow these steps:

  1. Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
  2. Once the app is installed, login using the credentials your school assigned to you
  3. Once logged in, click the “Card” at the bottom of the app screen to see your card number or use it to checkout materials when in the library

Login Credentials

Enter your school email address in the “Library Card Number” section and your school’s code for the “PIN”. If there are questions about what these credentials are reach out to your teacher.
