SPL issues library cards to students and educators at participating schools and school districts.
Student Cards
School library cards give students access to library resources and are provided to students in participating schools. Using a school library card, students have access to the following resources:
- Up to 10 physical items may be checked out at one time.
- Items not available for checkout include hotspots, Rokus, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
- Overdue fines are not charged.
- Items must be returned to check out more materials.
- Access to digital resources is provided by the library.
- The library provides access to computers in the Youth Services area, along with free printing up to $1 for school-related work.
Logging In to Your School Account
Students can use their library card number to access online resources like Hoopla and the Libby App. While in the Library, students can scan their digital card in the app to check out materials or visit the help desk for assistance.
Logging in Through the Library Website
Follow these steps to log in:

- Click the “LOGIN” button in the top right-hand corner of the screen (or in the sandwich menu on mobile).
- On the sign-in page, enter the credentials provided by your school:
Library Card Number: Your school email address
PIN: Your school’s code
If you’re unsure of your login credentials, reach out to your teacher for assistance.
To find your library card number after logging in, go to “My Account” and select “Your Library Card” from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the webpage.
Logging in Through the Library App
Log in to the Salina Public Library Catalog app by following these steps:
- Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Once installed, open the app and enter the credentials provided by your school:
Library Card Number: Your school email address
PIN: Your school’s code
If you’re unsure of your login credentials, reach out to your teacher for assistance.
Once logged in, tap “Card” at the bottom of the app screen to view your library card number or use it to check out materials when visiting the library.

Educator Cards
Educator cards provide access to books and STEM kits to enhance curricula. Teachers can create temporary classroom collections, check out educator kits, and reserve multiple copies of library materials.
- The cardholder can check out any item if the account balance is less than $5.
- Overdue fines are not charged.
- PC access is available on the main level of the library’s adult areas.
- Access to digital resources is provided by the library.
- Educators can reserve multiple copies of items from our collection by contacting the appropriate library staff:
- Youth Materials & Daycare Kits – Head of Youth Services
- Adult Materials – Head of Information Services
- Classroom Kits – Head of Technology
Who is eligible for an Educator Card?
Educators who reside in the city of Salina or Saline County are eligible.
- Teachers
- Administrators
- Librarians/library aides
- Licensed childcare providers
- After-school program providers
- Homeschooling parents/guardians
How do I get an Educator Card?
Educators can apply for a card online or in person at the library. After submitting your application, pick up your card at the library with the following identification:
Photo ID – A valid, current photo ID with your address (e.g., Driver’s License, State-issued ID)
Plus ONE of the following:
- Current school-issued Photo ID.
- A school website link displaying your name and role.
- A letter on official school letterhead, signed by the principal, dated within the current school year.
- Licensed child care certificate.
- Valid proof of homeschool membership.
Does the card expire?
Your educator card must be renewed every three years. To renew, bring your school ID to the library.
Will I receive library notices?
You will receive notices via email or text message. The messaging system is the same as on a personal library card.
Apply for an Educator Card
Fill out the online card sign-up form then email circ@salinapublic.org with your work email to confirm your educator status.
