Get a Library Card

Salina Public Library offers a variety of library cards, each providing different levels of access. Depending on the card type, account holders may be able to borrow materials, use library computers, access virtual services, and more.

Patron & Youth Cards

To check out physical materials, bring your library card. If you do not have a library card, bring a current photo ID or photo ID and a piece of mail with your name and current address

Any child, 17 years and younger, is eligible to receive a youth library card. The child must be accompanied by a parent, step-parent, or legal guardian who:

  • Accepts legal responsibility for use of the card.
  • Provides a current photo ID with the current address of that parent, step-parent, or legal guardian on it.

When a child turns 18, the youth card expires. The account remains in the system.

Library cards are issued to Kansas residents. Those who are out-of-state, but are temporarily Kansas residents, such as a student, may be issued a card. There is no charge for a library card. Patrons who receive a library card agree to abide by all policies of the library.

Virtual Card

Anyone in Salina or Saline County can apply for a virtual library card online or at the library. Patrons must be 18 to apply for a virtual card. Please allow 24-48 hours to receive your virtual card information via email.

Educator & School Cards

Students and educators at participating schools and school districts may already have a Salina Public Library card.

Students with these cards can check out up to 10 physical items at one time and access library resources.

Educators residing in the City of Salina or Saline County can receive an Educator Card for extra resources provided by SPL.
